Doubt: A Parable
By John Patrick Shanley
Directed by Meghan Hanson
Synopsis
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best Play, Doubt: A Parable is a gripping and thought-provoking drama that challenges audiences to examine the nature of truth, certainty, and moral conviction.
Set at St. Nicholas School in the Bronx in 1964, the story centers on Sister Aloysius, a formidable principal whose suspicions about a popular priest, Father Flynn, lead her into a conflict that tests the beliefs and loyalties of everyone involved. As accusations emerge and evidence remains elusive, the lines between certainty and uncertainty become increasingly blurred.
John Patrick Shanley's acclaimed drama refuses easy answers, inviting audiences to wrestle with difficult questions about trust, power, faith, and justice. Through its compelling characters and razor-sharp dialogue, Doubt creates a powerful theatrical experience that lingers long after the final curtain.
Provocative, emotionally charged, and remarkably relevant, this modern classic remains one of the most compelling dramas of the twenty-first century.
